AI Style Assistant
Use natural language to quickly modify your map styles. Simply describe what you want, and the AI will make the changes for you.
How It Works
The AI creates new versions of your style with each change. The version number is displayed for overview.
Note: The AI Assistant is still under development and is not fully stable. Occasionally, errors may occur or unexpected results may arise.
Getting Started
- Open a style in the Style Editor
- Click the Assistant tab in the right sidebar
- Type your request in natural language
- Press Enter to apply changes
Example Commands
Examples of good requests:
- "Make the map more colorful and vibrant"
- "Use a dark theme with high contrast"
- "Change all main roads to blue and make them wider"
- "Increase text size for better readability"
Examples of poor requests:
- "Better" (too unspecific)
- "Like in the other map" (AI has no context)
- "Add Berlin" (AI cannot add new data)
What the AI Can Do
The AI Assistant can edit various aspects of your map style:
Base Map Layers (Background)
- Roads and paths: Colors, widths and styles of different road types
- Buildings and areas: Fill colors and outlines for buildings and other polygons
- Water features: Lakes, rivers and other water bodies
- Parks and forests: Green spaces and natural areas
- Text labels and names: Place names, street names and other labels
- Background layers: Base colors and textures of the map
- Borders and boundaries: Administrative and political boundaries
User Data (Your Added Elements)
The AI cannot directly modify your custom points, lines, or polygons. These are edited through the normal editor tools.
Understanding the difference: The base map is the background (roads, cities, countries), while user data consists of your own added elements (travel routes, locations, etc.).

Tips for Better Results
Good vs. Poor Prompts
✅ Good prompts are:
- Specific: "Make main roads wider and darker"
- Clearly descriptive: "Use warm autumn colors for parks"
- Combined: "Light gray background, larger texts, green parks"
❌ Poor prompts are:
- Too vague: "Make it prettier"
- Without context: "Like before"
- Impossible requests: "Add new cities"
Best Practices
- Start simple: Make broad changes first, then refine
- Be descriptive: Use terms like "vibrant", "subtle", "modern"
- Be concrete: "Make roads lighter" instead of "improve roads"
- Be patient: If results are unexpected, simply make a new request
- Experiment: Try bold ideas - you can always return to previous versions
Common Use Cases
Examples of typical requests:
- Brand Alignment: "Apply our company colors: #1E40AF and #F59E0B"
- Accessibility: "Increase contrast and make text larger for better readability"
- Seasonal Themes: "Use warm autumn colors for a cozy atmosphere"
- Print Optimization: "Optimize for black and white printing with strong contrasts"
