Map material

For the base map material we use OpenStreetMaps licensed under the Open Database License.

Relief data

Our relief data is based on the 3DEP, GMTED2010 and SRTM data, which fall under the “Public Domain”. The following additional data sources were used to provide terrain/relief, each with the associated copyrights:

• ArcticDEM terrain data: DEM(s) provided by DigitalGlobe, Inc. image rights and established under National Science Foundation awards 1043681, 1559691, and 1542736;

• Australia Terrain Data: © Commonwealth of Australia (Geoscience Australia) 2017;

• Austria Terrain Data: © open data of Austria - Digital Terrain Model (DGM) Austria;

• Canada Terrain Data: Licensed under the Open Government License - Canada;

• European Terrain Data: created by using Copernicus data and information - established by the European Union - EU-DEM layers;

• Global ETOPO1 terrain data: U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

• Mexico Terrain Data: INEGI, Continental relief, 2016; “free use of information” license

• New Zealand terrain data: Copyright 2011 Crown copyright (c) Lund Information New Zealand Zealand and the New Zealand Government (All rights reserved);

• Norwegian terrain data: © Kartverket;

• UK Terrain Data: © Environment Agency copyright and/or database right 2015. All rights reserved;

We expressly point out that the following explanation is only to be regarded as further information in addition to our General Terms and Conditions.

Scope of use and options

Digital use

You can use the map material extensively for your digital projects:

• Company websites
• Digital marketing and social media
• Digital presentations
• Internal documentation
• Other digital media

Print use

You can use the map material for print products without circulation limits, including:

• Printed matter and advertising media
• Trade fair presentations
• Product packaging
• Business stationery

Licensing Model

Free Trial

You can naturally test our software for free and without risk. Both maps and custom map styles can be created to a limited extent. However, downloading without a watermark is not possible and commercial use of these downloads is not permitted.

Pay-Per-Download System

• Purchase download credits, which you can redeem for exports/downloads of your maps
• Each download grants a permanent, non-expiring license for one map
• Previously downloaded maps can be retrieved from the dashboard under "Downloads" (at no additional cost)

License Features

• Permanent ownership: Your licenses never expire
• Commercial usage rights: Full commercial use included with every export/download
• No print run limitations: Unlimited printing allowed
• All formats included: Export in PNG, JPEG, WebP, and PDF
• Team access: All workspace members can access licensed maps and export/download maps

Subscription Model (Only for Existing Customers)

Note: The subscription model is no longer offered to new customers. Existing subscriptions remain valid under their agreed terms.

For customers with active subscriptions (plans S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL), the following special conditions apply:

• Unlimited downloads during the term: During the active subscription period, you can download and edit your maps unlimited times
• Limited number of maps: Each plan has a maximum number of maps that can be managed simultaneously in the system
• Licenses tied to subscription: Licenses for downloaded maps are only valid during the active subscription period
• Automatic renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew annually unless canceled
• Upon cancellation:
  • All subscription licenses expire at the end of the term
  • Option: Purchase permanent licenses for individual maps for a one-time fee
  • Without purchasing permanent licenses, maps may no longer be used after expiration
• Deletion of maps: Deleting a map invalidates all previous downloads of that map
• Annual billing: Subscriptions are billed annually in advance

License Protection and Legal Aspects

License Duration

• Permanent licenses with no time limitation
• License remains valid even after account closure
• One download credit is consumed per export (download via the editor), which includes full licensing

Legal protection

• The map material and the software are protected by copyright
• All rights remain with mapstudio.ai
• Copyright notices must remain unchanged (changes possible upon request)

The following are not permitted

• Passing on or selling the software
• Sublicensing of the map material
• Modification of the software
• Reverse engineering
• Use outside the specified types of use

License monitoring and violations

We actively monitor compliance with our license conditions and reserve the right to

• Legally prosecute license violations
• Revoke the license in the event of violations
• Request proof of use and specimen copies
