Export Settings

Configure how your maps look when exported, ensuring consistency across downloads, shares, and prints.

Getting Started

  1. Open your style in the Style Editor
  2. Click the Defaults tab
  3. Find the Export Defaults section

Minimap

Show a zoomed-out context view on your exported maps.

Settings

  • Enable/Disable: Toggle the minimap on or off
  • Size: 120-200px recommended
  • Position: Corner placement (top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right)
  • Style: Can differ from main map
  • Border: Optional frame with customizable color and width

When to Use

  • Location-specific maps
  • Zoomed-in neighborhood views
  • When geographic context is important
  • For detailed views to maintain overview

Scale Bar

Help viewers understand distances on your map.

Settings

  • Enable/Disable: Toggle scale bar visibility
  • Style: Minimal (modern) or Classic (traditional)
  • Units: Metric (km/m) or Imperial (mi/ft)
  • Color: Choose based on your map background
  • Position: Usually bottom corners

Best For

  • Navigation maps
  • Print materials
  • Professional presentations

Aspect Ratio

Choose the right shape for your exported maps:

  • 1:1 Square: Instagram posts, thumbnails
  • 16:9 Widescreen: Presentations, YouTube
  • 9:16 Vertical: Stories, TikTok, mobile
  • 4:3 Standard: Documents, traditional print
  • 2:1 Panoramic: Website headers, banners
  • Free: No constraints, flexible use

Export Selection Resolution

Set the default export selection to achieve consistent results:

Function

  • Fixed Selection: Defines a fixed selection area for all exports
  • Ratio Lock: Prevents users from changing the aspect ratio
  • Resolution Lock: Locks the size of the purple selection window so users cannot resize it
  • Consistency: Ensures uniform results across multiple exports

Common Sizes

  • Web: 400-800px
  • Social Media: 1080px
  • Presentations: 1920×1080px
  • Print: 1200px minimum

When to Use

  • Corporate Design: When all maps should have the same format
  • Series: For related map series
  • Templates: For reusable map templates
  • Automation: When users should not choose

Common Export Scenarios

Social Media

  • Aspect ratio: 1:1 or 9:16
  • Resolution: 1080px
  • Minimap: Usually off
  • Scale bar: Optional

Presentations

  • Aspect ratio: 16:9
  • Resolution: 1920×1080px
  • Scale bar: Minimal style
  • Minimap: Optional corner placement

Print

  • Aspect ratio: 4:3 or free
  • Resolution: 1200px minimum
  • Scale bar: Classic style
  • Minimap: Include if helpful

Selection Specifics

When you select features (instead of manual selection):

  • The system automatically selects all visible map elements
  • Resolution is set according to default settings
  • With locked resolution, users cannot change this
  • Useful for consistent full-map exports
